Why won't the throttle control close the chock?

I have a 4hp B&S model 122707-0185-01 that is mounted on a DR Trimmer/Mower model 4010954. I have it running good and it starts right up when choked. Trouble is that I have to set the choke manually as the little finger that grabs the plastic choke lever is possibly bent and not able to trigger the choke lever as it currently is set up. I am supplying some photos to let you see the situation.
In the 2nd photo the finger is holding the choke lever but I have to put it in this position manually because the finger can not get behind the lever on its own.

Problem solved.
I stumbled onto this video that shows my choke and the little finger,
The choke is activated at 8:46 in the video.
So I bent the finger (carefully) back to where it should be. The little finger just barely touches the chock lever, but I guess thats all it takes.
