Not me, that's for sure...

Since 2008 Scotland has been hit every winter with harsh snow and winds, but this year has been an exception.

We got the winds - Oh boy did we get the winds, but we only got two little showers of snow that melted away within 24 hours, then nothing!

Don't get me wrong, I hate snow and am glad that we don't have it now, but it got me thinking.

There were lots of people back in October and November saying "oh it'll be snow this year!" and "yep, worse than last year!", and look how wrong they were!

People think the weather is so simple and that it can be predicted so easily - But it seems not...

Just my two horse power.

Back in 1983. I did a bicycle tour of Scotland and one of the things that I remember very well is that the winds were very strong in most places. The only place in the USA that I know of where there's that much wind most of the time is the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

That's certainly true here in the South. We haven't had a hard freeze so far this season -- my impatiens (annual flowers) in planters in front of my house in Atlanta are still hanging on to life.

January and February are the big months for winter storms -- in my area that means ice but not much snow.

I remember someone posting a thread about have you quit mowing yet, it will be January in a few days and I'm still mowing lawns. As they say in Florida, Only a Fool or a Yankee predicts the weather in Florida. Friday through Sunday they say were going to be in the 80s for daytime highs.
