Hello. New member here. I have a Weed Eater push mower with a Briggs & Stratton Engine. My control cable has obviously stretched. The brake barely clears and the stop switch does not clear the ground. I think it is time to buy a new cable. Do I go to Weedeater or Briggs for the cable? Thinking of buying an after market cable anyway the OEM did not last long. Thank you for any replys.

(revised) Weedeater model 961120115 08. The engine is a Briggs & Stratton 125cc 80000 450E model number 08P502-0064-F1.

you did not provide a model and serial number. No way of knowing. There may also be an adjustment for that cable.

Husqvarna provides the cable. The closest revision level I find is level 7 and nothing found for level 8. PN 532440934. Stens PN 290-725.

Tie a simple knot in yours. Will shorten up for free.

I buy cable off the spool at Rural King just replacing the core and fabing ends.

Well considering the Stens is only $12 retail I would spend more more in fuel and time going to RK here as it is 25miles one way. It only costs me $6 for the cable from Stens with my account there especially I order $150+ in parts which I do at least every two weeks just to get the free shipping. Or I could spend $12.30 ($16.38 retail) when I order it through my Husqvarna distributor on a stock order.

So I would recommend going to one of the local shops and order the cable. Saves a lot headaches.

Or a simple granny knot and be done with it for free.
