Hi mowers. This is my first post, new to site. I need to buy a new mower and have it narrowed down to two. TORO 4235 0- turn or a Husqvarna LTG 2654. I know there is a great difference in the mowers. I only have one TORO dealer close at all and he @ 20 mi away and he is usually about 2-3 weeks out on repair work. Have a lot of Husqvarna dealers with in half the distance. Any feed back on the mowers or other thoughts would be helpful.... wgra85

I'm new also so welcome. I would go with which ever gives you the most bang for your buck. I don't see either one giving you trouble as long as you maintain it and don't abuse it. I only have experience with Briggs & Stratton and kawasaki. Both are good engines prefer kawasaki. I change my own oil, filters, belts and blades and blade sharpening. So if you don't do your on maintenance I would definitely go with whom ever can get you going sooner than 2 to 3 weeks. AL

Welcome to the forums!!! What is your budget and how large is your lawn?? If you have 3/4 acre or more a ZTR(0-turn) would be beneficial. The Ariens Zoom(you don't mention the exact model) is a good entry level Residential ZTR but I'm not real crazy about the Toro Timecutter entry level. Most of us on the forum recommend that you try to find a dealer fairly close to you for any needed warranty repairs like you mentioned. Big box stores can't provide service after the sale. Yeah, the more ZTR's you look at the harder it will be to decide...there are a LOT of good quality ZTR's on the market. Some of the things you may want to consider are engine brand(Kawasiki is the recognized leader), deck design and construction(stamped or welded, gauge) , model of transaxle(serviceable or not), comfort of seat and of course price. Maybe you should start a thread in the Mower & Equipment Buying & Pricing Forum and give us the details you mentioned and we will try to give you some feedback on some specific brands/models that we are familiar with. Buying a new ZTR is a big investment and I'm sure glad I came to these forums before I bought mine!!! There are a lot of knowledgeable users that are more than willing to help you sort through the "ZTR Maze":0)

The hustler raptor 42 inch cut runs 2799.00 and the 52 ,2999.00. I don't know what the other zero turns run. Just another mower to check out. AL
Thanks to all of you who have returned posts. Have some good ideas, but I'm still leaning towards the regular lawn tractor. I have a lot of leaves and don't know if the ZTM's on the entry level have big enough bagging units. I really don't care how fast you can mow. I'm retired and have lots of time. Besides I'm kinda slow myself so me and a tractor would do just fine. I will still check out some ZTM. Big Al , found a Hustler dealer real close and will take a look... JERRY

John deer because of resale ease. Use it 5 to 6 seasons maintain it then sell it and buy you a new one. AL

The JD 130 is not the mower you want.
I have not heard one person say they liked how it cut.
The husqvarna is more mower for the money and better built
You may want to scroll through the jd and husqvarna threads to see what problems, if any, owners of the model mowers you are looking at have. The husqvarna would be my choice as well.

Hi mowers,, Well I went ahead after much research and purchased the JD D130. I gotta tell you , I could not be happier with my decision. The mower runs and cuts better than expected. I have used it twice now, and it's so easy to operate. The bagger works fine and the lawn looks great. I have a local dealer so I went there instead of a big box store. I know I may have paid a little more, but this thing was all set up and ready to go,, NO ADJUSTMENTS NECESSARY. They filled it with gas and delivered.
