I guess they didn't make this awesome engine for too long because I can't find any parts for it. I think 1969 thru 1973. 7hp B&S on a Huffy Sheraton riding mower. Its been the best engine I've ever had by far. I think number on the shroud is 170702 0645 02 6903271. 50yrs, abused and neglected by my father and then me most of its life and finally it quit this year. Coil is fried and carb leaks with a full stream of gas now. Over the last 15 yrs, It ran like crap, leaked gas and adjustments didn't really work anymore but it ran so I just kept using it. Muffler is so bad, it sounds like no muffler. It starts fine when cold but when it gets hot, it dies and will not start. It smokes when started but runs clean after about 20 seconds. Anyhow, anyone know where I can get new or quality rebuilt parts? If not, do you think I could use this carb pictured which is a little different?....or use the parts to put in the original one? Thanks for your help.IMG_E4275.JPGScreenshot 2022-06-27 at 00-10-10 For Briggs & Stratton Carburetor 491026 391788 393410 391788...png

First your engine is older than 1972 per the date code. It is a 1969 model.

Carburetor that is on your engine is a 390811 superseded to 491590. Also the carburetor don't have fuel inlet. Hopefully the 692317 connector-hose will work.
The ignition is points version so it will need to be converted. A Briggs 398811 is the new Magnetron coil.

The muffler was provide by the mower manufacture is pot luck on getting one that fit. I haven't the name Huffy Sheraton before so I am in the dark about it.

Somehow I gave you guys the number wrong....whoops...I'm not smart. Here's the correct number. I'm guessing they take the same parts?IMG_E4286.JPG

Here's the coil I took off. The little sticker is mostly unreadable, however I think the first numbers are 31-2...something. I know it was replaced around 2005 by a friend who I thought knew a lot about engines but turned out to be just another hack..like me! Looks a lot like the part number Star Tech gave me so I should go with that, correct?

Yes after looking the new number yes the parts are the same except the old carburetor had a screw in fuel connector. Don't if the new carburetor is sccrew in or press fit. IF screw in then the PN is
