I wonder if that is not item 232 which could fit over the top of 202 in his posted diagram. Acts like a anti vibration spring to stabilize the throttle linkage.
that's what i am thinking, i ordered a bell crank for an opposed twin, and a spring came with it and the instructions read to hook it to the Governor arm and bell crank, where the throttle link goes. *If high speed surging occures

I’m thinking, seeing it’s an idle return spring, that it is located between the governor arm and throttle control. I’ve seen something like that on generator engines with shut down idle controls. Scrub might be on the right track, but I’m then confused because it is called an ”idle control spring “.

Scrubcadet that's definitely the spring, just don't know how it connects. Any possible connection points seem too far to span.

did you try from the Governor arm to the plastic bell crank? it goes in the same holes that the metal link rod goes in.

Guess that's my only option it just doesn't seem like a proper fit. Thanks for all the responses ?

IL, I missed that one and I totally agree with you. To the OP, disregard my post and go with what IL posted, I’m wrong and he’s got you on the correct track.
