Do you get them at the mower shop, big box store, ect. ?

I buy my Gator blades at a local hardware store here in town. I have a husqvarna 48" that uses the same blade as a Exmark. After picking up 3 blades today from the Exmark section that were $9.99 each, I was just looking around at the different blades and found the same exact blade (numbers and everything) in the universal section for $8.99. At check out I asked the sales guys and he kind of chuckled, $28 and some change out the door

I tried the ones at Lowe's,Home Depot and Wally Mart I went through 3 sets to every 1 set from John Deere The steel is junk and not near as hard. No thanks. I do not know who makes them Deere or the rest of them. The Deere ones are a lot thicker also. I guess it depends on how they are speck out to the maker. Take a file to both kinds and you will see what I mean.

I run gator blades on everything the only time I do not use them is in very tall thick grass. They keep the grass under the deck to long. They do last longer than any other blade I have used.

I have found that a company called Oregon has good quality blades for all type of equipment. Much cheaper and stand up the same as OEM.

I bought a set for my 40" cut Murray (two blades) at a place in town called "Air Cooled Engines" and gave $19.99 each for them. I found the same blades (Murray brand) at Tractor Supply, and also another place in town for $9.99 each. That's quiet a difference! I can buy two sets at these places for what I paid for one set at Air Cooled Engines. I agree to an extent that "you get what you pay for," but sometimes you pay much more than needed for what you get!

Most of the blades I have found here is the Oregon brand or what looks like a lesser brand of Gator blades, only thing on them is model numbers. Most Lawnmower dealerships here carry the Oregon blades.

Never tried to buy Husqvarna OEM blades, don't even know if they make them. Most of the OEM parts I purchased for my mower has been so over-priced it forces you to buy aftermarket. a example was a spindle bearings. Husq dealer wanted $26 each for some marked made in Japan, I bought the same model that is made 35 miles from my house and 2 were less than $20 total.

I don't mind someone marking stuff up and making a living, but to try and sell me a $7 bearing for $26 is robbery.
