Rebuilt my son's MTD Mower (12av55dq713} with Honda Manual auto choke engine. Starts fine but when choke releases engine dies. I think it is the fuel filter. I can run the engine with the choke lever half way. Any Ideas?

Well it is either not getting enough fuel or is getting too much air or you have assembled the gaskets wrong & blocked off the bowl air vent.

Start the mower then saturate the manifold area with WD 40 ( or similar ) FROM A TRIGGER PACK NOT A SPRAY CAN.
White smoke = air leak.
slide the carb off and blow through it with a compressor turned down low
If there is no fuel blowing out the engine end you have a fuel blockage
If you get a good mist of fuel from the engine end the vent was blocked.

How should the gaskets be assembled? Do you have a schematic? That carburetor is a pain to assemble. I may have positioned them incorrectly.
