Mostly aimed at the mechanic but also the person paying the invoice.
What is the labour time on certain equipment that you service or pay for?
What was the labour rate?

Example
I charge 5 hours for a tractor as i have to book it in, raise a jobcard, wash the machine, service and order parts, fill the jobcard, invoice, contact the customer, take payment and then load the machine.
The tractor gets a full overhaul from engine, steering, drive train ,transmission and cutterdeck.
All parts replaced as necessary.

Mowers are menu priced but looking at couple of hours + parts depending on model.
2stroke product is usually 1- 1/12 hours depending on model.

I go with time and material. Starts when I pull the ticket and ends when I turn it in. If the customer asks forva quote time to figure the quote is added to the quote, so if he doesn't like the quote, he still pays for the qoute.

Our charge out rate is nz$75 per hour including G.S.T, ride on mowers can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours plus parts, 1 to 1/2 hrs for a push mower, chainsaws 1/2 to 1 hour.

I remembered from the 2008 Briggs yearly update, a shop labour efficently guide, if you Briggs dealers still have a hard copy from 2008 or MSTs look on the "power channel", there is a video to watch..
