Hi, I have two older mowers that i really like to use, but although they run fantastically, and have no noticeable smoke, the exhaust reeks and burns my nose. I don't notice this with newer engines, and this got me thinking, what is this doing to my lungs, and the environment. I know that if I was really that concerned, I could just get an electric mower, but I need a gas one for my small business. I have a few good mowers that I don't mind just buying a new engine for, but then again, if the cost for the engine is almost as much as an entire mower with the same engine, well that's another thing. So anyways, I'm trying to find the best, most fuel efficient and least polluting engine that I can, and any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Honda GCV190

Noise Level:
I think Honda engines are the most quiet, and I'm not just saying that because I love Honda.

Fuel Efficient:
Honda engines are very fuel efficient. Sometimes I can get two 0.25-acre properties mowed on one tank of gas!

Emissions:
All Honda mowers meet the emissions regulations in all 50 states. My Honda is rated a 3 out of 10 for this  (10/10 is bad).

Okay thanks a lot, I had the Honda's in mind, but wasn't sure if there was anything else out there. So, do you think it would be more cost effective for me to purchase this engine to replace a current one, or go ahead and just buy a new lawn mower with this engine? By the way, the mowers I am talking about are both snapper hi vacs.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. Just to buy an engine is a big majority of the price of a mower, but then again, if you want that engine, the mower that it comes on is $600+, so that's pretty high. I don't know how much you want to spend.

That's good, well I actually have a Briggs OHV right now, but I'm not sure how well it runs. (I've only got it running to clear out excess oil) But I think I'll look more into the Honda side of things. Thanks!
