:licking::licking:I drove an 18 wheeler for 16 years, now that I have retired I find that runnin my little 10hp rider 30in, gives me a good feeling. I mow the yards next to me (both sides) for free just because I like riding my mower.I am not in the country I live in a city with small yards. Does anyone else have this feeling :confused2:Just FUI one side is a foreclosure and the other is a woman living on S.S. I have been asked to mow other lawns but its not as pleasing to do it for money as it is for nothing.

Keep doing it.
Your one of a very few that isn't asking "What's in it for me"
I thank you!

There's nothing wrong with you. You're a good hearted, decent individual who cares about others first.

Nothing wrong with you, I do that stuff all the time. You would be surprised how many lawns I've done for nothing. Don't get me wrong, I like too make the money but there are some people who need the help worse than I need the money and like you said gives ya a good feeling.

One of my neighbors in the city has a small (6' x 25') strip of grass but no mower. I cut that when I cut my yard and it's no big deal. In fact, I think it's good for my mower because the mower warms up fully while it would not quite get there cutting my yard alone.

If I could afford to, I would definitely do something like that for free.

I've been mowing the yard next to mine for five years. A widow lady lived there until she died about a year ago and I just kept on mowing the grass. I never charged her but she insisted on buying some gasoline for my mower so I'd let her because it made her feel good. She had a reverse mortgage and the house is for sale but I sure don't want to live next to a vacant house that looks terrible so I keep it looking like someone lives there.

There is nothing wrong with doing charitable work and if more people did charity work the world would be a better place.

all I can say is more power to you... I have mowed lots of yards for friends or family to help them out. It always gives me a good feeling. I am not in the biz tho and it is small enough I have never had to worry about additional wear and tear. They say charity starts in the heart and you sir have a good heart!

Been repairing mowers for needy people for years. I have found that for every one I do for free I get back more than I give out, plus as I bet all of you know those two words you receive when done are priceless. What are the two words? Thank you.

You May be Suprised how some of these Good deeds will turn out, many yeasr ago there was a Man that i helped him do a lot of things around his farm, i was also a farmer & much younger than he, and some times i had some extra time, and i enjoyed working with him, he was a friend, and i learned a lot while helping him, any way he decided that he was not going to keep his small heard of cattle, he had may be 25 head, one day i got a call from him that i needed to go down to the Slaughter House, he said that there was a 1/2 of beef for me , and i needed to tell them how i wanted the Meat cut, another time not to many years ago, where i still live, there was a Older Couple ( Older than Me i am 37 Model) he fell sick and i cut their yard everytime i cut mine, we have 3 lots that adds up to a little over 3 ac. their lot was just a tad over 1 ac. it only took me another 45 min to knock out their yard will i was mowing, when the sold and moved away, a couple bought the place, some way he found out that i had been cutting the grass, he asked me if i would keep cutting it, so he would not have to buy a mower, now for the last 2 years he has brought me 1000 buck (Cash all at one time) i told him that it was way to much money, he said that he makes good money and it was worth it to him to not have to worry about the grass, & know i was watchng over his place, So one never knows how a good deed will turn out, if you do to another as you would want him to do to you, is a good way to live your Life

It's good to see this kind of post on a board like this. This "used to be" the norm for neighbors helping neighbors. I still remember back in the 50's my father holding my hand on a vacant lot in Dolton Illinois and watched him finalize the deal with the contractor to build our house "with a hand shake"!!! Today? Lawsuit after lawsuit. We would leave for the weekend with our doors unlocked, windows open, and keys in the truck and never think that someone would actually enter our home! People today don't realize that when you "give", you usually receive two fold in return down the line. I am so thankful to be 70 and can do what I do and enjoy it and help the unfortunate when the opportunity arises. I only hope our actions might rub off on the younger generation when they see how our actions bring us rewards. There is "nothing" wrong with you. You just happened to find the key to happiness and in todays world, it only "seems" wrong..

There is this one lady in my neighborhood that is really old, and earlier this year she called me to ask if I could mow her lawn (she wanted it done within that hour!) Anyway, I did it, and when she went to pay me, I told her to keep it, and donate it to her favorite charity or something. She was very thankful.
