Interesting thread. I 'found' a Troy Bilt Horse in a dumpster at the local community college (I was an instructor there) and brought it home. The Tecumseh HH engine burned more oil than gasoline (probably why it was tossed) so, I replaced it with a 6.5 horse Pred engine and machined a new reverse jackshaft. Total cost was 99 bucks and some time. That was 10 years ago and it runs just fine and tills every spring. Parts are readily available on Parts Tree of from MTD.
