The best and worst thing about leaf blowers is that they are so versatile that in the lawn care business you will use them for so many different things that it is about impossible to have the right one for the job without it be over/ under powered. But that's what a throttle is for. I suggest buy the strongest backpack blower you can afford or the largest one in the brand you like the best. And then have a handheld blower as a back up and to get into all those tight spaces and where you don't need a lot of power.

Well I don't believe theses bigger blowers are as versatile as one thinks. If that was the case the company's wouldn't be making 6 and 8 different sizes of Back Pack blowers and depending on the job you're doing you should buy accordingly.
Everyone talks about having to have a huge blower for moving leafs, what about the individual who doesn't have leafs. Why should he spend all the extra money for something he well never have a use for.
Not trying to be sarcastic or anything but If I was to use your theory my edgers would be useless because my trimmer can do that job or so some claim. I was always taught there's a right or correct tool for every job and if you want the job done right you use that tool and I really don't believe lawn care is an exception.

I think the smaller blowers the companies make are for homeowners, or professionals with light duty jobs like walks and small driveways or small leaf cleanups. cuz those backpacks can be overkill. why spend an extra 300 bucks if you don't have to? you should have the right tool to fit your application. that's why there are so many units available.
