Westwood t1600 no ignition lights and starter motor runs without pressing the start button

All the fuses are ok.
The mower usually starts fine but now I have this problem it will not start.
any thoughts?

Did you walk intto the garage & the engine was cranking all by itself ?
If not how about the full story ?
