Kawasaki Manual recommends a Detergent oil for there engines with (API service SF, SG, SH, SJ, or Higher) says nothing about using synthetic. Using multi grade oils (10w30 and 10w40) will increase oil consumption and should be checked more frequently. that's from the Kawasaki Manual. I myself run Mobil 5000 10w30 and change oil and oil filter every 50 hours in both my Kawasaki and Kohler engines.

I run a 34hp Kawasaki and use napa 30w. After initial 15 hr then 50 hr oil and filter change I change them every 100 hrs. Manuals recommends every 200hrs.
For those of you that have machines with engine warranty still remaining, I recommend that you use the manufacturers recommended engine oils and filters and document this with sales slips and maintenance records.
When the warranty has expired then make different choices if you so desire.
Presently all of my 4 stroke machines recommend full synthetic engine oils and this is what I use.

My 2nd and newest machine is a Hustler X-ONE with a Kawasaki FX730 engine. I use straight 30W and Kawasaki oil filters on this machine as it has a 36 month engine warranty.
This machine is used exclusively at a cemetery and has a 60" rear discharge deck. Nice machine and the Kawi is a smooth nice running engine.
