Yard Machine weed eater several years old tried to start it for first time this season after many pulls to start the clutch stopped engaging the puller cord goes back it OK but does not engage
Probably needs a part I can't get hate for it to go to junk.
Its possible there's an easy fix but I doubt it.

These are a PIA t service the pull start as the whole machine has to be pulled apart
There is a friction washer that causes the pawls to pop out when you pull the cord
So either it is not working or the pawls themselves are broken.
All are replacable but it is a 3 hour job so service centers rarely do it as labour alone exceeds the replacement price of the trimmer
The parts ae usually cheap so viable for the owners to do.

Thanks for getting back

I took it apart and found it is the gears in the white pull mechanism so if it was replaced think it would be OK.
the Pauls look OK on the other side
it came apart easy so far should be no harder than replacing the cord.
but depending on price of part might be easier to get another
