can old gas left in a mower with a 190cc briggs engine start a leak around and coming out of the carburator, soaking the air filter?

ok now what how can that be repaired, should i try blowing air thru fuel intake on carb to see if needle seat, or can the carb be cleaned out, possible gumed up?
