I never had n e luck with green slime. I jus knock the rust off the rim if it leaks n throw some grease around the bead before i air up the tire.
as for tires i like to use carlisle on my mowers, quad etc.and i always go with 4 ply to reduce puncture.

Hi Troops,
I'm getting closer to a repower decision and I'm leaning strongly to a Briggs 30 HP with the cyclonic air filtration system. I've been looking for reviews about this engine but haven't found any as yet. I would prefer a Kawasaki FX730 but by the time I buy what is needed to make this conversion I could buy two Briggs 30 HP engines.
I'll soon order the Briggs and make the changeover on my Scag Tiger Cub. I will tear down the original Briggs to see what is ailing it. Spring will be here before I know it and I want to be ready.

Mackie,
Have you checked the valves and seats? Since you don't have excessive scoring on the cylinder walls, that is another good place to suspect.

Hi Steve and group,
I don't think that I have any valve problems with this Briggs as there was no leakage into either the exhaust or the intake systems during any of the leakdown tests that I performed. One leakdown test that I performed was with both the muffler and intake not installed. I did replace the intake manifold as it has been a problem on some Intek/ELS twins. I also cleaned the carb when I replaced the intake manifold.
