Voltage regulator fuse melted

What would cause a voltage regulator fuse to melt. On 2001 Grasshopper. No effect has been noticed except after market lights don't work. The fuse did not just blow it actually partially melted.

Melting means heat. Heat is caused by resistance. A loose or corroded fuse holder, or fuse contact surface is usually the cause.

It seems the fuse holder was the culprit. I replaced the fuse holder with external fuse holder and now all seems fine. The lights problem was unrelated, switch bad. Thanks for the reply, it saved me a lot of work and time.
