Hi All, back again, anyone have good pictures as to how the carb. linkage should be set up on this engine, I need something other than what is in the B&S manual , I don’t have a rod for linkage adjustment, see pics.F039471F-6564-4E26-A81B-9CB4A67CBB13.jpeg

Try page 68, sec 3 of this manual, which covers vintage Briggs engines. https://isavetractors.com/content/B...irman's Handbook engines 1919-1981 CE8069.pdf

Thanks for that link, lots of good info, still can’t quite figure out how the governor is supposed to work, I see how the throttle is controlled but there is a really strong spring involved and no way governor will over come that, I don’t think anyway.

Very possible someone installed a different spring, as that one does look extremely heavy.

It’s possible it’s a different spring however I think it needs to stiff to retract the throttle cable.

I don’t remember ever seeing a spring that large or heavy used as a governor spring. Original spring part number 26502, superseded to 260546. Look at this pic. https://www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/part/briggs-stratton/260546. Plus this manual and breakdown might help you. https://www.briggsandstratton.com/c...tton/na/en_us/Files/FAQs/Model 6-domestic.pdf
