Valve gaps

Hello , trying to set the gaps clearance on my Snapper rear engine 21A907-0124-E1.Its a 12 hp B&S .set them with engine cold or hot?
 
Cold. And Briggs says do it with the piston 1/4" down pass TDC compression to avoid setting the intake valve on top the ACR action.

ACR = Automatic Compression Release
