Valve adjustment

There is problably a thread on this already but I couldn't find it. I have a 16hp Twin 2, I/C briggs engine, It is getting hard to start when warm and sometimes when its cold. Anyway I suspect the valves need adjusting and as near as I can tell it is not an ohv engine. The numbers are 402707-1270-01. If anyone has any info on how to do this that would be great

Your engine isn't overhead valve. Valve adjustment requires removing the heads, breather covers which are under the intake manifold, removing the valves, and grinding the stems to set the valve clearances. Not something for the average joe. I have never had to reset the clearances on the opposed twin engine, so I would bet the valves are not the problem. Most likely cause is the carb needs cleaned.
