Hi All,
I cut about 3-4 arces twice a month at my up north family owned property.
We can't afford a brand new zero turn at $7000 so we are hoping for a good deal on a used one but.........
How many hours is to many? I have seen used Exmarks for sale with 2900 hours for $2500.
At how many hours should a red flag pop up?
Greatly appreciate any help. Thanks

Three to four acres is a respectable amount of mowing even twice a month. In my opinion it really isn't as much how many hours the unit has on it but rather how good it has been serviced and are the service records in order? The two major components are the hydrostatic drives and the engine, both are made or broke by proper service. From that point a good quality zero-turn can be rebuilt but keep in mind it all adds up $$$. I have bought a couple used zero-turns I always check for even pull on the hydro's forward and backwards, any oil leak at all on a hydro is a disqualification. Find an incline to test the engine as well as the drive system including belts.
The final comment I would make is a unit that is taken care of shows even with high hours, trust your first impression its usually right.

When I look at a used mower. If I can tell that they just cleaned it with a pressure washer I walk away. To clean means trying to hide something
