Have you decided on whether you are going to purchase the fastrack yet?

I have sort of backed off of that Hustler. I was going to offer no more than $2500. Well then I started looking on the internet at new machines and I was seeing new machines for roughly $400 or $500 more. Now I realize that these new machines have EZT drives and not the ZT-2800. But the more I thought about it, I don't think I really need the heavier duty drives. I have 1.25 ac. and I'm not hard on my equipment. EZTs should be fine.

I would still like a bigger cutting path as my 42" only cuts a 36" path. I've been looking at Husqvarna, Gravely and Toro. Right now the front runner is the Toro SS5060. It has a 50" deck with 23hp Kaw engine, 3 gal. tank and 0% financing. Not sure if I can pull it off now or have to wait till spring. I need the wife to buy in on this :)

Thanks for checking back.

Are you talking about Raptor being $3k? I went with Raptor SD 54 ($4k) mainly because of the deck. Taller with highest blade speed. I have 3/4 acre lot, not much. EZTs would be just fine with me. Main concern was cut quality, I wanted best I can get. So, this Fastrak will probably cut better than regular Raptor...

No, this was not a Raptor I was looking at. It was an '09 Fastrak with 48" deck and 2800 drives.

I'm talking about NEW $3k mowers you talking about. Not just drives differ between them.

You are correct. Frames and deck are not as heavy duty. Maybe some other differences too. But as I said, I'm not hard on my equipment. I think the Toro SS5060 would be fine for my 1.25 acres. I'm only cutting my property once a week. Not commercial.

Agree. It's not about durability. It's about ability to make a good cut. It seems that you need to get to certain level to get good cut. I was judging by blade speed..
I'm not hard on my equipment either but went little more $$ just because of how it will cut...

Sounds like you are on the right track. The raptor sd has the zt2800 hydros as well. Toro makes a fine mower as well. Their exmark line is one of the more popular brands out there.
