So I am trying to get my Ariens B&S engine to start. Did all the normal things ie; new plug, new gas, new oil. Figured there must be a clog in the fuel line somewhere. Inside the line I found this weird little piece of plastic with a tiny amount of mesh on it. Can this possibly be a fuel filter? It blocks the whole line. I cant see how the engine could get enough gas to run with this thing there. Any ideas?

Something is telling me to stay away from this one ......but will say this, that thing you call it (fuel pipe) should be there, do you think that B&S would fit something to an engine if there was no need for it....?.
if I was you because it seems to me that you do not understand the workings of a engine, is to go out and buy yourself a cab kit, and then find someone who knows what they are doing to fit it for you.
I can see that you have done some work to it, but did you look at the diaphragms and seals (carburetor) for damaged. a carburetor needs to be setup right, or you will be wasting time and your money.
remember you need fuel, compression and then a spark.

Hello venlost & WELCOME to LMF....

Post a picture if you can....
I can't imagine anything that could be deliberately placed inside a fuel line that would block it off, Remove it and see how it is working without it... :smile:KennyV

It just might be the small screen that B&S put in some of their tanks. May have broken loose and got in the line.

The fuel pipe contains a check ball and a fine mesh screen. To function properly, the screen must be clean and the check ball free. if he removes it from the tank the carburetor will not be able to have fuel, and there for it will not work.
Did you clean out the tank...?
