I aquired this mower a couple of years ago. It runs great and other than the tires going flat every week it has served me well.... untill i broke the steering gear and found out i have no way of identifying the mower for replacement parts. The ID plate is missing. Any help would be great.

I've been tinkering with one just like that except for it's a 6 speed, but the model is 46107x92a
This one is a hydrostatic. Would the chassis and steering be the same?

the chassis might be different due to a different trans being used, but i would suspect the steering to be the same, i can go out and snap some pics of the steering gear etc. on mine if you would like.
Here is the gear i am looking for. When i pluged in the model number you gave me it came up with a gear that was similar but different enough that gives me pause.
That is the standard Murray steering gear with a slight dental problem ,Viewed from the top
The look different from the underside cause there is the lip to prevent the circlip popping off and the flare to prevent it wandering down off the fan gear .
The bush it runs in will probably be shot & the fan gear pivot hole will be a bit egg shape .
Usually all changed as a set but you can do some welding & filing if you are pushed for cash.
I don't know, it has the same part number on it as the other version with the lip, so it likely is incorrect.
I just did an image search.

When you do replace the gear and what ever else is worn out be sure and grease it from time to time and it won't wear out again. While your working on your mower why not go over it and grease everything. Your mower will thank you.
