Two Husqvarnas, what to do?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and I just purchased two used Husqvarna tractors last week.

I bought a '04-ish GTH2548 with a Kohler Command V-twin 25hp motor, and 48" deck. Motor has 300 hours and runs great. Paid $500 for it. Love the motor, but HATE the tractor itself. It has the hydrostatic control on the right-side controlled by your hand. This has to be the absolutely stupidest design ever. Why it wasn't made with foot pedals is beyond me. I also don't like that it's not really 'step-thru', making it a pain to climb in and out of.

I also bought a '09-ish YTH2348 a few days prior to purchaing the other, just because it seemed like a good deal and (knowing that I would be buying the GTH2548 in a few days) thought that I might not like the hand-controlled hydro on the GTH (and, I was right). I paid $150 for it, but the motor (23hp B&S V-twin) is done (threw a rod). It has 150 hours on the meter. This tractor of course is a step-thru, has foot-controlled pedals, and in my opinion, looks nicer (I know that's not really important though).

Now, my plan, obviously, is to switch the GTH's motor into the YTH. I just did a quick 'measurement' of the mounting bolt locations on both motors, on one side only, and they look to be the same. Does anyone know for sure if these motors have the same mounting hole dimensions? Or do you think I'll have to drill my own holes? I know I have to check for myself, but just thought I'd try and see if any of you knew for sure.

Also, do you think the deck from the GTH would fit the YTH? Both decks looks in to be in great shape, but the GTH deck seems to be better quality, so I'd like to use it if I can. They use different height controls, though.

I also plan to change some other things over as well, like the steering wheel (the wheel on the GTH is much more comfortable).

If I do go ahead with this motor swap, I plan on putting a B&S 21hp into the GTH (from my current Cub Cadet - cuts like crap, is only a 42" cut, and eats up belts like crazy).

Any info, insight, or plain ol' opinions on all this are very welcomed! Thanks!

Anyone know for sure if the Kohler will bolt right up in the YTH?

Yes it will bolt up.
You will just have to splce the wires together as the plug ins are not the same

Awesome, thank you so much! :)

I suppose the deck from the GTH won't fit though, right?

It will fit with a couple mods. Take the two decks side by side.

I have a YTH with the 10 gauge deck. You really have to go out of your way to hurt it.

Only weak place is the right side back bracket. It will bend and the main belt that comes from the pto clutch will rub on it.

Alright cool, yea I guess I'll have to just look at both decks and see what to modify.

Thanks again!
