Has anyone purchased a head for a Koehler sv600 (20hp) recently? A valve seat went on mine so I went to my local cub dealer to order a new head and they told me it would be at least a week to order one in so I went to eBay thinking I could get one quicker which I did by two days. I got the head bolted up valves adjusted and tried to bolt on the valve cover and the holes are there but not threaded. So the seller isn't getting back to me so I order another one from a different seller and a week later I get the second new head and guess what? No threads. So thru this whole process it's a month later and I just wasted a head gasket And have a hay field for a yard.

Drill and tap the holes. No biggie. Think I would have done that on the first one instead of buying another one. Not really defective. Just not finished. Probably cheap though.

Make sure the bolts that hold the cover on are not designed to cut threads on insertion. So nothing may be wrong with the heads you received. Come from the factory untapped awaiting for the threads to be cut when you install the cover bolts.

Yep,
Some one got a hold of a job lot of unfinished or defective Kohler parts and flogged them of to unsuspecting purchasers on Evilpay.
It is a trillion dollar enterprise making people pay good money for scrap parts.
What was most important , were they cheaper than the rip off mower shop ?

Fleabay is marginally better than Craigslist. Least with Fleabay you don't get rum dum tire kickers coming to your home to low ball you....
