Anybody watch IRT, etc.. Whats your favorite seat time program?

I like IRT, but wish they would stop the reruns .... I like something new. Also like Axe Men, Swamp Loggers, Swamp Men (Gator Fishing) , Hillbilly Handfishing, NCIS & NCIS L.A.

Sometimes with 200 channels there is nothing on to watch.

Sing Off is good (mostly) - AGT is mostly good, but they could just show bloopers instead of the whole act when it STINKS ON ICE.

Not Yet - probably a great deal like the one in India (I think) --- I was a litle surprised at Dave's attitude up north after his team spirit with Lisa and Rick over there. I guess they need the DRAMA.

Like to watch Deadliest Catch, Canadian Pickers:cool: and a few reality shows like Survivor:ashamed: and the Amazing Race. I also don't miss watching Modern Family and the Big Bang Theory. The character Sheldon reminds me of JD, he thinks he is always right. And of course as winter approaches and because I'm Canadian, got to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs play.

TV today is mostly pure crap, I am so sick of the inane garbage reality shows like Big Brother, Amazing Race, Survivor, etc I want to puke. One of my favorites was the original CSI, set in Las Vegas, but after William Petersen left it went straight downhill...

The original NCIS with Kate was really good, when she was killed off and they replaced her, straight downhill there too. Big Bang is one of the few programs I really look forward to seeing, though. Just so funny.

The stupid networks kill off the really decent programs, anybody remember Jericho? A really original program and plot, and they killed it off. Morons. "Men of a Certain Age" was one of the best shows in recent memory and they killed that off too.

Amazes me how they continue junk like "Americas got Talent, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars", etc. Pure garbage.

What galls me most of all about TV is the stupid, inane commercials that now occupy half the length of the program...used to me a half hour show was 22 minutes actual show, now it's 15 program/15 commercial. And don't get me started on the overpaid, overhyped actors, who in their right mind thinks Ashton is worth 3/4 million per show, he gets to mouth words written by other people for 15 minutes to earn 3/4 million dollars. I hope Demi wakes up and squeezes his b----s off.

Sounds like you don't have a subscrition based television provider. You have digital antena?
I'm thinking about dropping the direct tv. What does it take to get a free signal these days?
Do you need some kind of adapter or what? My tv's are all about 5-10 years old.

We have Direct TV !!!! 200 plus channels that are 99% crap. For free TV you need a digital converter (about $65-$70 last time I checked) and a good outdoor antenna, yet there may not be any decent local channels near you. I put a converter and a costly indoor antenna on a 1993 vintage set, can get maybe 10 local channels, all only fair quality.

The Tampa Bay rays are up 6-0 on the Texas Rangers in the 3rd inning.
Anybody see the Rays - Yankees game night before last?
It's being called the best regular season game ever played...... The Rays came back, scored 6 runs in the 8th inning from a 7-0 defecit.
Then, with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th tied the game with a home run on a 3-2 pitch to go into xtra innings.
They won the game in 12th with a walk off homer by Evin Longoria....baseball history, it was great!

Try getting a Netflix streaming account. We gave up all the premium movie channels and for $8 a month we watch stuff from Netflix. No commercials, you can get movies, old tv shows, foreign TV and movies (love British detective shows and Dr. Who). I have a wireless router, a blue ray player with a wireless connection and that's it. I can pick what I watch over the TV or by my laptop.

I haven't had a TV since 1968. I like it that way because I don't waste a lot of time watching bad to mediocre stuff. I strongly prefer print media to video.

I go to lots of movies in theaters but in each case I select what I'm seeing carefully and there's no watching whatever is next in a movie theater.

I'm going to a British movie called "Brighton Rock" tonight.

Had a great season? They are in the playoffs right now, against the Yankees. They have arguably the best pitcher in the game right now in Justin Verlander.
If they win, and the Rays win, the Rays will play the Tigers for the ALCS (American League Championship series).
But I don't think those stinkin Tigers have what it takes to win the big games, they will be swept by the Yanks....I hate the yanks
The Lions are serious, they beat my Buccaneers on opening day 20-27.

The Rays spanked the Rangers 9-0 final

TV sucks 99% of the time.I hardly watch it.
I got well over 200 channels and half the time there ain't any worth watching. One can't even trust the news no more for accuracy.
I like shows like the swamp gator hunters ,but like the rest of these reality shows they are prob rigged for drama.
Canadian pickers is so lame,it sqeeks:thumbdown:

I like a good movie like "the patriot" and such but one can see them only once a year, not every friggin monthSeems like they rerun 5 movies over and over:rolleyes:

And then ofcourse we got the COMMERCIALS for 60 % of the time.

Oh Yeah,i forget "hockey",..... jeez what a show :thumbdown

And then they say i'm so negative :biggrin:

I find Swamp People watchable but your right they do over dramatize make it sound like Gator hunting is a lot more dangerous than it is, as well as exagerate the weight of some of the gators. I particularly like the 2 bearded brothers that are gray and missing most of thier teeth. The 2 that squirrel hunt from the front porch:laughing:.

I stoped watching at early at 7-0, figured the outcome was pretty much set, with it being New York and all that. I saw it on sports center though..... amazing comeback, that was some hollywood stuff there, unbelieveable!
I heard that the H.R. ball is going to the hall of fame.

Off topic sometimes are the best type...and I know what you mean about the names of sports teams. Back in about '95 when Oldsmobile Stadium was opening up for minor league baseball in downtown Lansing, a lot of the suggestions for the new team name was "Rockets" for Oldsmobile Rocket...but they picked a stupid name like "Lugnuts". So visiting teams could say things like "Crack their nuts...." yeah right.

When the stadium name was changed because the new sponsor was a local school that taught law, and it became Cooley Stadium, I suggested they change the name of the baseball team to "Hit and Run"....

So much of TV, most of all those stupid reality shows, are so scripted and fake they make me want to puke.

Know what never fails to amaze me, is when I think back to the past, our TV sets were small, had poor picture quality, lousy sound, very few channels were available, we had no means of recording anything, yet many of the programs were so great we remember them fondly today.

In contrast, we now have huge, 1080p plasmas and LCD's with fantastic pictures, multi channel stereo sound, hundreds of channels, DVR's, Blu-Ray, etc.....and 98% of the programs are such commercial-laden crap we don't want to watch them.

What a shame...too bad broadcasting quality and program content didn't keep pace with the technology that developed what we have in the way of tv hardware today, instead of improving, it degraded.

You guys KNOW I AM RIGHT ABOUT THIS.....!!!!!!

One thing about going without TV has changed in the last 15 or 20 years. Before the rise of the internet, people would look at me like I came from Mars if I told them I didn't have a TV. Now their reaction is much more moderated.

The parallel to not having a TV 20 years ago is to not be on Facebook now. When I tell that to people these days I get those same horrified looks -- as if I don't really exist if I'm not on that website.

Speaking of the boob tube.......

Now that Amanda Knox is back home, and the world is awaiting the next second of the Jackson doc's trial, how long do you think the media is gonna jump all over this Steve Jobs story?

I predict they'll stomp and parade the issue until every last drop of decency, respect, and humanity is squeezed out in the name of ratings.

Stupidly misused invention, the television..........

AWWWW, HOW SAD....:laughing::laughing:

I think this post alone is worth MOTM, combining a twin engine plane AND a lawn tractor......:thumbsup:

Back about 1996, wife and I met two guys at the airpost in Mason, Michigan, guy driving the tractor is not the plane owner. We all flew to White Cloud, Michigan, to have breakfast. I offered to pay for part of the fuel, plane owner told me no, just pay for my meal. Cost me about $25 to pay the check for all four of us. Wife and I are pictured next to the plane. When we got back to Mason, guy fueled the plane up, it cost about $100 to make the trip there and back and gas was a LOT cheaper back then.

What a hoot...burning $100 worth of gas to go have breakfast....
