turo push mower

I have read the forum and the problem I have has been answered somewhat , but I want to know.
I have a toro push mower that will start after priming several times but stops after a few seconds. By accident I held the primer in and mower kept on running. Is this an indication of a bad primer, perhaps a air leak in it?

Have taken carb off , cleaned and inspected.

You are most likely at the problem area...
Carb problems... or fuel flow problem.
Is this a carb mounted on the fuel tank? (It will have a small diaphragm pulse pump, to lift the fuel).
What engine is this?
