Turf Tiger Fuel Line Problem

Hello, the fuel line on my STT61-22ka (Kawasaki Engine FD661D) keeps getting nicked by the pulley driving the coolant fan. The fuel line in the parts diagram specs typical 1/4-in rubber fuel line hose with no heat/abrasion shielding. The problem is that the line is flexible and keeps moving and hitting the pulley bolts at high RPM due to the way the factory line routing is setup. Has anyone ever used hard tubing to re-route this line from the fuel pump to the carb? If so, what does it involve - can you bend the tubing by hand (never done anything like this before)? Maybe it would be better to just use a longer line and rig some stays to keep it away from the engine? Experience on this or thoughts by anyone?

I'd go with the longer line if possible.

Yeah, you're right. I looked into the metal tubing and it would definitely work, but take longer to reproduce if/when it fails. I'll just route it through the electrical conduit already attached after looking it over more carefully this morning. Thanks.
