I have a John Deere L120, which will no longer move. The mower & tranny was working fine and suddenly stopped with a slight noise. The forward and reverse pedals now travel too easily now do not do anything. Likewise the little lever release mechanism in the rear does not now impact anything. I assume my transmission is toast? I raised the tractor up and don't see anything not hooked up.

Or am I missing something? I also checked out the You Tube online video about how to repair the transmission, but even the cost of the parts is more than what the mower might be worth.

Am I missing an external adjustment somewhere?

Thanks if anyone has advice.

Drive belt & idler pulleys ok?

https://www.tufftorqservices.com/En...eshooting/Diagnostic_Flowchart_EN_23DEC08.pdf

http://www.greenpartstore.com/Model-L120_c_89-3-3.html Look at page 3, traction drive belt & idler pulley kit, $37.37. For safety, remove negative battery cable & tuck out of the way. Remove deck & take your time remembering where all parts go. If you have phone take pictures before disassembling. Remove idler pulleys first then proceed with belt. Always use JD OEM replacement parts & no guesswork will be involved. Idler pulleys have bearings in center of pulley & they do wear out. Your local JD dealer may have this kit.

I can't believe it! You were right, Mechanic Mark! I got underneath and found a shredded belt! I didn't even know there was one of those in there! Now, where's the instructions about how to go about replacing it?

Thanks so much!

Thanks again! I got the belt at the local JD store, removed the deck and will install it today.
