I just bought a Scag TT2 with the Kawaski liquid cooled FD851D. From 5 minutes after I start it, it runs at 8 out of ten bars on the temp guage and then stays there the whole time I'm cutting. It doesn't hit the high temp mark (9 bars) but it seems a little odd to me that its running that high on the scale. This mower is brand new and I've only used it 3 times but that seems to be the normal operating temperature. The dealer is looking into it. Should I be worried? Anyone else run this same set up and where does you temp guage read during normal operations?

The most likley cause will be a faulty thermostat not opening enough to allow enough water flow to take the heat away
And as you have contacted the dealer, it is his problem .
However it is always prudent to send him an EMAIL OFF YOUR COMPUTER so you have written proof of the problem just in case the worst happens.
Make sure the oil is right up to the full mark, check it every time
When engines are running hotter than they should the oil thins down a lot which allows it to burn & leak more than normal .
