You mean pull the bump knob off of its bolt? Why would I want to do that?

This is what I have. Spring just slides into hole in spring spool. No threads.

When operating the trimmer, the string spool rotates in the opposite direction that the bump knob screws into the shaft. Looks like that will always unscrew the bump knob and cause it to fly off.
