Replaced battery, spark plug, air filter, and cleaned carborator but trimmer wouldn't start . I charged the battery and sprayed additional carb. cleaner into the carb. and it starts but won't stay running. Any idea where I should go from here.
Spraying carb cleaner into the engine and have it start and then die is normally an indication of a fuel/carb problem. The carbs on the newer engines are so finicky that you may not be able to get it clean enough to run properly and may need to be replaced.
Some of the passages in the new carbs are basically non cleanable and if the carb has any corrosion or foreign material in the carb you will not get it out.
The trimmer should have a High and Low Setting on it. If you go to this You Tube Page, it will tell you how to adjust the high and low speed settings. Also, some of them have covers on them, you have to get them off. This you tube video is very good. It sounds like this is your problem, especially after you have cleaned the carb, there is not much too them.
It is a walk behind trimmer with a 5 hp briggs engine. The carb is non adjustable on this engine. Did you clean the jet that is in the nut that holds the fuel bowl on. If it clogs they will do what yours is doing, and most people overlook the bowl nut on this engine.
