It will crank and run for about 5 mins. Cut off and will not crank again for about a hour. Any ideas?

Do you have a spark when this happen? You can use a tester or a known good spark plug to check.

If you spray some starting fluid thru carb, does it try to start backup?

No starting fluid in house. My have to try your knowledge tomorrow when I can get some.

Staring fluid is usually easier and faster especially with the straw than trying to pour fuel into the carb. It can be done though you could also pour a little fuel directly into the cylinder since you have a large amount of time to let it cool before it normally starts again.
