Sounds to me like the belt tensioner pulley is getting hot and locking up. That will slowly burn up a belt.

Are you using OEM belts? Are you ordering the belt by using the product ID numbers on the machine label?

Not all Z425s were built the same.

Possible bad tensioner pulley. Also check both hydraulic pumps to be sure they are mounted securely. Are they straight and level, are the mounting points all good, are any of the mounts broken, cracked welds?

I see you are new to this site. Welcome.

Be aware that we need the machine product identification label information (PIN). Some people refer to this as the serial number tag. Without that vital information, we are just throwing wild guesses out here.

If a problem concerns the engine, we will need the specific engine number stamped in a valve cover or from the factory label affixed the side of the fan shroud.

Does the tensioner pulley spin freely without growling noise?

Is the tensioner arm moving freely and no wobble?

Is the tension spring hooked correctly to pull a strong tension on the arm?

I’ve previously had a z330r and replaced along with belt the tensioner. I currently have a z545r and at the recommendation of a friend who is a tech at Jon Deere dealer will be replacing idler pulley along with belt this winter. He said pulley bearing will growl and a smart idea to replace when doing belt.

Hello CB36266,

The capitol letter (I) is always used when referring to yourself personally. (Use the shift key to make a capitol letter). The first letter of a word in a sentence is always a capitol letter.

The small case (i) is used as part of a word.

A period(.) is used at the end of a sentence to clarify a single thought.

A comma (,) is used as a breathing space when a long thought is expressed.

This is not criticism but rather helpful guidance with you writing skills.

Aside from that, the definition of insanity is to "keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results".
Most people would have started asking questions or seeking help after a second or possibly a third attempt with the belt burning and jumping off.

Maybe take some digital pictures of the mower and deck fully assembled and installed and someone out here might see a problem.

Recommendations:

Can you look across the top of the deck blade pullies, and they appear to be the same height and level with the blades disengaged? Has one spindle been replaced and looks newer?

Often time the deck shell gets bent along with a broken spindle because someone hit something very hard while mowing. The belt problem is likely why it ended up at a swap meet.

Are both the right and left belt shields in place? On some decks, these also act as guides to keep the belt from jumping off.

Do you hear the belt squealing or smell faint burnt rubber after operating the mower deck a few minutes? That would usually indicate a bearing or belt alignment problem from excess heat.

Have a competent helper operate the deck while you watch the pullies and belt in operation with mower parked and brake locked. There are many moving parts, so don't attempt to touch anything, just observe. Usually, you will be able to see if something is out of alignment.

There is still much to check, but let's take small steps to figure this out. There is seldom any one reason for this kind of problem to happen, especially after so much work has been done to get this machine going.

Good luck to anyone making sense out of his posts. I sure didn't. Like listening to my 1 yr old grand daughter talk.

Hey, he asked for help, so here goes:
" I bought this mower at a swap meet. It did not run, so I rebuilt the motor, and replaced the deck, and flushed the hydraulic system. I also put on a new oem belt, then cut my yard. Over time, the drive belt acted like it was slipping and if you keep running it, the belt burns off. I have changed it 8 times and I can't find the problem. This mower has a hydraulic pump and two motors. I need help!"

(Everyone here is here to help you, countryboy36262. I hope this translation helps.)

You had the motor off for an overhaul? Was the crank drive pulley installed upside down. Not sure that is possible, but it is an idea.
