transmission?

I have a HDS 2145 Cub Cadet and the transmission will not engage.The last time I went to use it the transmission was fine but the blades would not engage. I have needed a new battery for some time so I thought that may be the problem so I got a new battery.Now the blades will engage but the transmission will not.

WELCOME to LMF...
That is a direct shaft driven hydrostatic transmission..
There are only a few external things that will keep it from working...
Linkage not attached, fluid level low or drive shaft not connecting the engine to the trans-axle ...
Check that all linkage moves, and is attached...
There is a dip stick on the transmission, check oil level...
You should see the cooling fan,in front of the transmission, turning any time that the engine is running.
