hi. no drain on the casing, removed the bottom cover.. also as i bought this mower second hand, when i found that the oil reserve tank was full of dirt i decided to clean the whole trans mission..replaced every thing as it was,or i thought so.. obviously i stuffed it up..cheers

There is a piece in the pump if you put it in backwards you get the problem you describe.

I meant to say the motor not the pump. The block that slides in with the motor pistons can be put in backwards and that will cause the trans to operate backwards

you need to bleed air from transaxle while rear axle is on jack stands, front wheels are scotched, have helper move rod lever at backside, pull out & wait 10 seconds & push back in for 10 seconds while you are in seat operating forward & reverse pedals & helper is operating rod back & forth.

It sounds like it is the hydro unit with a two bolt cover for the gear pump. That cover if rotated and installed backwords from how it came of, reverses pump flow. Remove it and install 180 degrees from how it is now.

Ok you're pictures are not of the problem the pump pistons press on a wedge shaped block one end is narrow and the other side is thick the thick side needed to be installed facing up tyrell has a video showing how to do it
