Toro Titan MX5400 or Husqvarna M-ZT52

I THINK I have it narrowed down to either a Toro Titan MX5400 or Husqvarna M-ZT52. I would apologize for another of these "which one" postings, but I have read a bunch of them here and find them extremely helpful. I hope others that are doing research will benefit from your feedback as well. I have about 2.5 acres I'm mowing with areas of thick grass, some bumpy terrain, and debris. I have looked at and considered SCAG, Hustler, Gravely, Ferris, and Kubota. I've gone round and round and, for a number of reasons, came down to the two mentioned. Here are the specs:

I have sat on the Toro and love the suspension seat and in general feel like it gives me a little more room (I'm 6'7"). I really like both of the dealers, so that isn't an issue. What I don't know is how do each cut and discharge? Is having "no greasing automotive style sealed bearings on deck blade spindles" (Toro literature) a good or bad thing? Is it harder and more expensive to get Husqvarna parts? If the time comes to resell, will Toro fetch a larger audience?

You have some good questions. I'll start off with I'm a Toro Fan but when comparing the spec's I'd lean toward the Husqvarna because it has the better engine with the FS Kawasaki and a little better drives along with a few other things that may or may not matter to some. As far as the sealed bearings go, I've used both types and prefer the sealed. I've got tons of time on both Toro's that I use with sealed bearings and never had an issue. As far as getting parts for the Husqvarna, I really couldn't say but I do know for a fact that Toro will take care of there equipment and parts aren't an issue and when it comes to resale, the Toro will fetch a larger audience and sell probably quicker than the Husqvarna.

There both good mowers and when you come right down to it and there isn't going to be a lot of difference between the two mowers when your out there mowing. The difference in drives you wont notice or difference in BTS you'll never see. The big thing for me or that sways me toward the Husqvarna is the FS Kawasaki and I can tell you it's a great engine, I've been running the FS 541 on the Toro stander for 3.5 years and have just over 700 hrs on it never had an issue with the motor same with the FX on the ZTR.

The drive train on the Husqvarna is better, but your lawn wouldn't be an issue for either mower. If you like both mowers, and both dealers, then you should go with the one that you find more comfortable. You don't want to be miserable for that hour and a half while you are mowing. It sounds as though you are taller than the average person. If The Toro is more comfortable to sit on, and offers you more room, then that should weigh heavily in your decision. The Sealed bearing vs greasable bearing has been debated on this site many times. I come from an agriculture background and prefer greasable, but you will only be mowing for a couple of hours a week. It should be years before bearings have to be replaced with either type.

Out of these two I would get the toro.
In my opinion it has the better engine.
The sealed bearings are a plus.
And comfort is a big thing.
Toro parts are easy to find.

I imagine that is courtesy of the big box store sales. Not a bad thing, but will parts for a MZT be readily available? Why don't I see alot of commercial guys around here using Husqvarna? Why doesn't my local Husqvarna dealer stock Husky zero turn commercial line (I plan on asking them)?

I ended up ordering the Husqvarna M-ZT52. The dealer came down in price a bit and the mower had too many positives to not jump. They stock all the heavy wear items for the M-ZT and can get most anything overnight that they don't have. I asked why they didn't stock more commercial Husqvarna....They are a smaller shop and have carried SCAG for a long time with great success for their commercial market. They took on the Husqvarna, in part, to offer product for their high end homeowner. Made sense to me. As most of you said that responded, I think either mower would have served my purpose and hopefully the Husky will for MANY years to come. I will post my review later this summer once I've put some time on it.

Your Question... Why don't I see a lot of commercial guys around here using Husqvarna? is maybe something you need to get an answer for. Why not stop and see what there running and ask why they made their choice for the particular mower there running. See what they run for engines and ask why. I can't count the number of people who would ask about the equipment I run and why.

The Mzt is a very good mower. I hope you get many years out of it. I must admit that professional land scapers don't use them here either. Mainly Exmark, John Deere, Snapper Pro, Hustler, Ferris, and Kubota are what the pros use here. Nothing wrong with Husqvarna though. My uncle has been mowing his 3 acre lawn with an Mz for years and has had no issues.
