Toro TimeCutter SS 5000 Spindle Change

I have a bad bearing in the middle spindle of my 3 blade mower. To remove the spindle, I need to remove the pulley on the top of the deck, which is secure with 1 inch nut. I cannot break the nut loose and I am wondering if the spindle is threaded backwards, meaning I need to loosen by going clock wise rather than lefty-loosey.

It is a normal right hand thread and like the blade bolt tightens with use.
Yes they are a bugger to get off which is why there are holes in the pulley
Block the blade from turning and apply brutal force to it
Heat will help a lot and a lot of heat will work even better
Some had to be heated red hot before the surrendered
Repeated application of heat followed by a REAL PENETRATING oil which is not WD 40 from a spray can over several days some times does the trick
I have a 1300 ft lb rattle gun that often can not shift them

Alternatively derusting fluids can work better because this thread will be both overtightened and rusted
If you want to go that way then degrease very well first because derusting solutions will nor work if they can not contact the raw surface because of the oil/penetrant .
If you are short of time cut it off & replace it
Big nut splitters are not all that expensive.
