This ZTR is only about 3 months old but I am having all kinds of issuies with it. It is still under warranty so I can take it back but for 1 it is a pain in the backside to take it to the dealer, 45 miles away and 2, I would like to understand hoow these things work. So here is what I have.

1. Probably the most dangerous is this thing won't engage the parking brake when on even the slighest incline. I have actually had to stick my foot under the wheel to get it to stop and the brake engage. Scares me!! I can't disengage the tranmission with the 2 "j" sliders so I assume it is something with that adjustment.

2. It worked fine at first but now seems that "high" gear is slower than reverse. It should be about 7 mph in forward and 4 in reverse but it is maybe 3 in forward high. The only thing I have done is tow a trailer around the yard 2-3 times with a bit of yard waste. It seemed to slow it down some. Low gear is at a snails pace. It is not in one hydro- must be both casue it doesn't pull or push to one side just straight and slow. Maybe a belt slipping?

Are there any adjustments I should look a performing? There are rods under the back with spring returns, one of each side. I thought of tuning those alittle? Any ideas?

I actually figured this out and wanted to post my solution if anyone else had the same problem. Seems the mower was edged slightly to be in reverse when the bars were in neutral. I adjusted the 2 nuts, one on each side of the hydro couterclockwise and neutral is neutral and forward is fast again and most importantly the brake can be applied with out problems.

If you have the problem of your toro SS pulling to one side there is a bolt beside the seat- one on each side that if you inch it forward or back it will adjust the tracking. I have seen this problem more than anything and Toro was able to help me so iam passing it on.

Thanks for the answer I just bought the Toro SS5000, and was a bit worried as it does seem to track a little to the right.
