Toro SS4235 cutting off, then not starting

I have a Toro SS4235 Timecutter and right now it is cutting into my free time. 3 weeks ago cut my 1 acre fine with no problems. Went out last weekend and the mower started up just fine but when I move the left & right drive levers in to back up out of the shed, the motor died. When I tried to restart it, nothing - no clicking, no turning over, no noise whatsoever. A few choice words were uttered but had to work all week so no chance to get it to the shop. Did some research online during the week and decided to see if I could find a quick problem this morning. Went out to the shed and of course decided to see if it would start just for the heck of it. Sure enough, it fires right up (not sure if that is one of Murphy's Laws or not). Anyway, at first when I went to back up again the engine started to die. I was somewhat anticipating this and moved them levers back to neutral position and it kept running. I waited about 30 seconds and then eased them in slowly and the motor continued to run. I proceeded to back out of the shed and then moved forward to begin mowing. Put levers in neutral and engaged blades with PTO switch; everything is still good. Proceeded to begin cutting for about 100 feet or so and got next to my blackberry bush that I thought might be dead. I was going to see if the branches were green so I moved levers to the neutral position and the engine died. Now again, it won't make any attempt to start.

I have pulled the PTO switch, the seat switch and both drive lever safety switches and checked them for continuity; they all checked good. Put them all back; still the same problem. Next I bypassed the seat switch and drive lever switches; still the same problem. I have a good small engine repair shop that has taken care of the mower for the past couple of years but they close at noon on Saturday and I was hoping to get some of the grass cut down this weekend so my foster dogs (Chiweenies) can see where they are walking. Any help is greatly appreciated.
