Hi...has anyone ever "Re-Powered" a Toro Lawnmower like this one...a 1984 Model 20672 with a Tecumseh TNT100-10083 engine..with Toro's Blade Brake Clutch...I see some sites that list possible engines that will fit Briggs Model126L02-1030-F1 or Honda GCV160A-NBL1.......anyone know if these will work?? the Tecumseh on it..has been shortblocked once...and now has low compression, and burning oil... cant find another block...

I'm no expert on repowering. But, on the snowblowerforum.com, several folks have repowered with Harbor Freight Honda "clones". It's a longshot, but hope this helps.

Problem you will have is finding an engine with a short crankshaft needed to match the BBC clutch. I suggest that you look for a good use Tecumseh engine.

Good and tecumseh in the same sentence? Lol I say grab a harbor freight honda clone and lose the bbc much simpler anything else would probably be equivalent to buying a new mower

You have a better chance of finding a GOOD used Tecumseh, that a harbor freight clown with a short shaft. You could also check on the price of the new Lincon engines which Toro now uses. Don't know the price or if they will match up, but it's worth a try.

Actually the Crankshaft is very long.....it is "stepped" and threaded on the end....
