Started my mower today- and that went well. MODEL 20005

However my front wheel drive no longer works.

I checked the belt- it fine- remover the cover and the transmission pulley is spinning.

Removed one of the wheels- looks ok there as well.

This mower was given to me- it might be a variable drive? manuals seem vague about it.

So what could be the matter with it?
Thanks

Since no one answered I will give it my best shot. Over the summer I had my old Honda mower stop "self-propelling". It was a rear wheel drive mower but the problem was worn gears.

Good luck and let us know if you fix your problem.

Your mower has a variable drive, which means the harder you grip the drive lever, the faster it will go. Four things will cause the symptoms you describe. One, worn belt. Two, worn gears teeth on the wheels. Three, worn drive gears. Four, worn drive and bevel gears in the tranny. It could be any or all of these, check them in the order I posted, don't jump to the tranny gears as LMF posted.
