Replying back to this thread in case anyone else is a beginner like me.
I replaced both belts with Toro original belts. What I realized I was doing wrong is not putting the full bottom back together. I left the rear baffle off and the other black plastic part that covers the length of the rear belt. Once I installed both of these and adjusted the tension of the cable that controls the engaging of the self propelled I was good to go. Another learning experience for me, and I have thoroughly enjoyed this. The only other issue I have is some surging with the lawn mower, but it is 100% usable, and I can now give this to the in laws since their lawn mowers are out of commission.
