I had the govnor gear break on my Toro.
I tore the motor down and cleaned out all the plastic bits washed it out installed a new govnor and re assembled.
The mower starts and will run at slow idle but if I try to move the throttle at all out of slow the motor tries to put a piston out the front end. :frown:
I have read the manual I have tried all the adjustments they say and then some I thought up:mur: but there is no way I can run the motor on anything other then slow.
Anyone have any ideas ???

You need to go back and reset you governor. Loosen the governor clamp nut, push the throttle open, turn the governor rod to the closed position and tighten the nut. If when started the engine races, you turned the governor rod the wrong way.
