Toro 2013 Titan MX Electrical Problem

Last July, I purchased a new Toro Titan MX ZTR mower. This Spring when I tried to start it, the battery was dead. I called the dealer and they replaced the battery and told me there have been a number of problems with Toro batteries. The mower ran fine until last week when I experienced the same issue. I took the battery to a battery dealer to get an independent opinion concerning the battery. What I learned was that the battery was almost completely discharged. I put it on my battery charger and reinstalled. The mower started.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? There's nothing I can think of to drain the battery except the hour meter and that certainly can't use lots of current. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Doug

I don't understand why you would move it there. The mower is powered by a 23hp gas engine. It uses a car battery to start - just like your vehicle. Please advise.

Thanks

I agree 100% and have absolutely no idea why the admin moved it here. Perhaps you could try reposting in the Toro subforum under Equipment by Brand.

Does not really matter where it is it still shows up in order under recent posts.

There are lots that can drain the battery. If it is still under warranty take it to dealer for repair.

It's been to the dealer twice now. They have not been able to figure out what drains the battery. They said they checked to be sure that when the mower is running, the correct voltage is being produced. Unfortunately, the problem manifests itself after the mower has been sitting for just under a week. Perhaps there really is a problem with the battery. If/when this happens again, I'm going to buy an Interstate battery and see if that solves the problem.

I bought this mower because I wanted to buy a US product. Now I have an unreliable product sitting in my garage. Next time, I'll go with Kubota.

Try disconnecting the ground wire from the battery after you finish using the mower and see if the battery still gets discharged after a week of sitting idle. If it is still getting discharged, then the battery is the problem. Otherwise, there is a slow current leak somewhere in the mower's battery charging circuit. Also, does the mower have lights that might not be turned off ?

Well looks like your topic was moved to the Toro forum, but I am puzzled with the battery going dead all the time did you add any additional air ride seat, illuminated switch of any kind for lights, etc?
