Thinking about Husq MZ5424S..... or Garden Tractor
Looking to replace my dead GT with a ZTR. I have 5 acres. One is lawn, two are lightly wooded and I mow it regularly (weeds, leaves, vines, poison oak, etc), two are heavily overgrown and a cut a few times a year. I am in the process of slowly clearing this.
I need to be able to pull a wagon and downed trees with the mower so I want at least a Hydro 3100 transmission. I have always had a GT in the past and I am also looking at a Husq GT or the JDX500, but I am leaning heavily towards a ZTR. I would like to keep the cost around $4000.00 if possible.
I live just outside of Gainesville, Florida. I have a JD, Kubota/Husqvarna ad Gravely dealers near me. The nearest Hustler dealer is 20 miles further from me. The MZ5424S seems to be a good price towards my needs list, but I welcome other options as long as it is supported in my area.
Update, I went to the Orange and Green stores today and they both didn't recommend towing a 5x10 trailer or pulling trees with the ZTR's. Deere pointed me towards the X500 and Husq towards the GT52Xi (fabricated deck and differential lock). The Husky GT was only $3200. The take was that pulling stuff and then the low trees that I have would negate much of the speed of the ZTR (I frequently move branches while driving under trees)
I think both guys I was talking to were "tractor guys" as opposed to "mower guys". Feature wise, the Husky seems about midway between the X300 and the X500, with the addition of the diff lock.
Thanks for your opinions on this
