Tension in the foot control on my CVT Troy-built Bronco 46K/

I have arthritis in my knees, and the tension in the spring for the foot control in my Troy-Built Bronco 46K is a killer. Is there a looser spring I could put in there to make it easier to push?

Do yourself a big favour and trade it in on a Country Clipper with joystick opperation or a Walker that requires no foot work whatsoever.
That knee is only going to get worse .
